.......There are 8 special playing cards in the card deck called “Bonnie Blue’s Rummy Cards”
that can be used for any of the card games in this mini-book. They are the “Bonus” card, two
“Minus” cards, “Lose Turn” card, “Stop” card, “Extra Draw” card, “Discard 2" card, and “Red
Extra Draw” card. These cards work much better with 500 Rummy, its variations, and
elaborations than with any other types of rummy. All the other cards in Bonnie Blue’s rummy
deck just replace standard cards. Like jacks are replaced by princesses and jokers are replaced
by Mother Natures.
.......To use the special cards with any of the games in the mini-book, shuffle all 8 in with the
cards to be used for the game being played. And for 500 Rummy when 2 to 4 people play, add 2
Mother Nature cards as wild cards; and for 500 Rummy when 5 to 8 people play, add 4 Mother
Nature cards as wild cards; you would be using the variation at the end of 500 Rummy called
“One or More Wild Cards.”
.......When using the special cards with a game the name of the game will change. The name 500
Rummy: Pleasant Rummy would change to Wild 500 Rummy, 5000 Rummy: Excellent Rummy would change
to Wild 5000 Rummy, and 10,000 Rummy: Sublime Rummy would change to Wild 10,000 Rummy.
.......When choosing the first dealer if you draw a special card, you must draw again. Deal 2
more cards than usual to each person. If a special card is turned up as the upcard, the
first card of the discard pile, it’s to remain the bottom card of the discard pile for the rest
of the hand. And the very first draw would be from the stock pile. You may draw only a
non-special card from the discard pile. However any special cards above it would be taken into
your hand. Special cards are to be kept in your hand until the end of the hand or
discarded. You don’t need to discard any special cards to go out; you go out using only your
non-special cards.
Bonus
card.
Add 25, 50, or 100 points to your score depending on which game your playing if your still
holding this card at the end of the hand.
Minus
cards.
Subtract 25, 50, or 100 points from your score depending on which game your playing for each
Minus card your still holding at the end of the hand.
“
Lose Turn
of next player” card.
When this card is discarded, the next player loses his/her turn.
“
Stop
the next player from drawing from the discard pile” card.
When this card is discarded, the next player may not draw from the discard pile. (If the
stock pile is exhausted, the next player loses his/her turn.)
“
Extra Draw
during any turn of yours” card.
Place this card in front of you, draw again, meld or meld some more if you want, then discard
it. You may then discard it as 1 of 2 cards after the “Discard 2" card is discarded. You may
discard this card without having used it.
“
Discard 2
more at the end of any turn of yours” card.
First discard this card then 2 more cards. To have the Lose Turn, Stop, or Red Extra Draw
card affect the next player, the card must be the last card discarded.
Red Extra Draw
card.
When this card is discarded, the next player must draw from the stock pile twice to begin
his/her turn, or if the stock pile is nearly exhausted, up to twice. (If the stock pile is
exhausted, the next player loses his/her turn.)
Note: If the stock pile is exhausted and the next player loses his/her turn because of a
special card, the “Going Out” rules for the game being played are still to be followed
literally. That just means the player having not melded is taken into account regarding the
phrase “in a row” under “Going Out."
.......These cards along with the rules on how to use them have been registered with the
Library of Congress.
If you can think of a really good card or cards that you think would be better than and
could replace any of these 8 cards, the author would appreciate hearing about it. You would
be acknowledged as the author of the card or cards on this page. Or you could keep that
information to and for yourself. You could

"500 Rummy" is great for various amounts of players, from 2 to 8 to be exact. Gin is usually
for only 2 people. And Canasta is usually for only 4 people. So if you learn how to play 500
Rummy then you can play with various amounts of people any time. "500 Rummy" is an excellent
family card game.
